Description du projet
Eating Your Way Through the Urban Campsite

The experience of food in a camping setting stands in opposition to the way in which cooking and the acquisition of food is undertaken in an urban environment. This project applies some of the principles of the acquisition, preparation and eating of food in a camping environment to the urban landscape, thereby making the participant/city dweller more aware of issues of location and space, choice, abundance, and waste. The urban campers will be required to make use of the “natural abundance” that the city provides by “foraging” (i.e. dumpstering) food from various locations in the proximity. All those who foraged are then asked to decide upon a recipe with the bounty and proceed to cook and eat supper together as a group. Engaging in this practice is a small step towards communally challenging the existing model of food acquisition and consumption in an urban environment.
